The old man leaves an offering of flowers at the cherry tree that marks the grave of Taira no Tadanori, who lost his life in battle.

The old man says he has come so that the priest will know the wish of Tadanori. He vanishes.
観世銕之丞
The ghost of Tadanori appears. As an imperial enemy, his name was left out of Senzaishū. He asks the monk to have his name included in the anthology.

Tadanori describes the scene at the Battle of Ichi-no-Tani, where he gave his life.

Surrounded by the retainers of Rokuyata, he prayed to the Pure Land in the West and bravely attacked Rokuyata.

Attached to an arrow, Rokuyata discovers a strip of paper with a poem written on it. He realizes that the brave poet was Tadanori.
