Visiting the capital in early spring, a monk discovers magnificent plum blossoms at an old palace.
村瀬純
As he views the blossoms, a woman greets him and recounts the story of the tree.
観世銕之丞
The woman reveals to the monk that she is the spirit of a butterfly. She says that regrets being unable to form a close bond with the plum blossoms and then disappears into the night sky.
坂本立津郎
A person from the neighboring village appears and tells the monk the history of the plum tree in detail.
竹山悠樹
In the middle of the night, the spirit of the butterfly appears before the monk at the foot of the tree.
観世銕之丞
A dance of pleasure, flitting between the plum blossoms.
